Located
at 2150 Detwiler Road in Harleysville, Towamencin Township, the company’s
customer base has grown to include homeowners and businesses in the outlying
Philadelphia suburbs, South Jersey and Allentown. It’s an easy trip, right
off the Northeast Extension (I-476) PA Turnpike, Exit 31 (Lansdale). Make left
off ramp onto Sumneytown Pike. Go 25 yards, make left at the first traffic light
onto Towamencin Avenue. At next light, make a left onto Forty Foot Road. At next
light, make a left onto Detwiler Road. The showroom is 3/4-mile on left. (See Our
Location for specific directions from your location).
That’s
the year he started selling carpets in Philadelphia’s Germantown section.
Today, the company maintains 35,000 square feet of showroom and numerous warehouses,
and employs a staff of more than 100 dedicated employees. Hundreds of flooring
styles are always on display, allowing for warehouse-direct purchasing. In addition
to flooring, the firm offers window treatments, drapes, and blinds. The move
from the city to the suburbs in 1972 was considered unusual in the business world
at the time, but the company proved it simply was ahead of the curve. Roy Lomas
knew that customers would prefer the spacious warehouse-type facility to the
crush of city traffic or shopping malls when choosing their flooring.
Today a 5,000-square-foot designer showroom, and a 5,000-square-foot remnant room features full samples from which to choose, and customers are encouraged to browse or have a salesperson assists them in their search. Homeowners, new home buyers, and homebuilders all are among the customer base of Roy Lomas Carpets… for good reason. The company sells all major brands of residential and commercial carpet, as well as a variety of hardwood, laminate, and vinyl flooring. Carpet and vinyl remnants at closeout prices are also featured. Brands include Fabrica, Masland, Shaw, Coronet, Mannington, Bruce, Gulistan, Mohawk, Congoleum, Armstrong and many more. In keeping with the “go green” movement, the company offers a variety of “green” flooring options that are more environmentally friendly. They include bamboo, and Mohawk hardwoods that have been reclaimed from historic buildings and recycled; and carpet made from corn.
